Soundbend: Free Browser DAW for Music Production | Morph

Soundbend is a digital audio workstation that runs in a browser tab. It has five native instruments (FM, wavetable, analog, drums and a sampler), a mixer with a per-track effects chain and aux sends, more than thirty effects including a true-peak limiter for mastering, a MIDI effects rack with arpeggiator, scale and chord tools, and a WAM v2 plugin host for third-party instruments and effects. It records from your microphone or interface, takes input from MIDI hardware over WebMIDI, and bounces a finished mix to a file — all on your own machine.

What is inside

Instruments — FM and wavetable synths, an analog-style synth, a drum machine and a sampler that loads your own sounds.
Mixer — a fader, pan, mute and solo per track, an insert chain of effects per track, aux sends for shared reverbs and delays, and a master bus with a mastering chain.
Effects — EQ (including a parametric EQ with a real-time spectrum and linear-phase mode), compression, saturation, reverb, delay, chorus, and ports of well-known open-source Airwindows processors, plus a true-peak limiter so your export never clips on a streaming service.
MIDI — a piano roll, an arpeggiator, scale and chord effects, and hardware controller input.
Plugins — the WAM v2 (Web Audio Modules) host lets you load compatible plugins inside the browser.

How a DAW works without a server

Audio processing happens in the Web Audio API with custom DSP in AudioWorklets and WebAssembly, off the main thread, so the interface stays responsive while the engine renders. Your project and samples are stored in your browser's IndexedDB, on your disk. Export uses an OfflineAudioContext to render the mix faster than real time. There is no cloud rendering and no upload; a session you record on a train with no signal still works.

Who it is for

Producers who want a serious sketchpad on any machine, students on locked-down laptops, and anyone who has bounced between "free" DAWs that watermark or limit exports. If you come from a desktop DAW, the mixer, sends and clip workflow will feel familiar.

How to use

Open Soundbend — Go to morph.cool/soundbend. The DAW loads in your browser; no account and no installation.
Add a track and an instrument — Create a MIDI track and choose an instrument — FM, wavetable, analog, drums or the sampler. Play it from your keyboard, a MIDI controller, or draw notes in the piano roll.
Record audio — Add an audio track, pick your microphone or interface, arm the track and press record. Audio is captured on your device and kept in browser storage.
Mix — Open the Mixer. Set levels and pan, add effects to each track's insert chain, route shared reverb or delay through an aux send, and shape the master with the mastering chain and true-peak limiter.
Export — Bounce the mix. Soundbend renders it offline, faster than real time, and downloads the file to your disk.

Is Soundbend really free?

Yes. Open it and make music with no account. Morph Pro adds the limitless version of every pro program; the DAW itself is free to use.

Does my audio get uploaded?

No. Recording, processing and export all happen in your browser. Projects and samples live in your browser's IndexedDB on your own disk.

Can I use my MIDI keyboard?

Yes. Soundbend uses WebMIDI, so a USB keyboard or controller works in a supporting browser such as Chrome or Edge.

Can I load third-party plugins?

Soundbend hosts WAM v2 (Web Audio Modules) plugins, the plugin standard built for the browser. Native VST and AU plugins cannot run inside a web page.

How does it compare with a desktop DAW?
