Files stay on your device.
Local-first by architecture.
Lossless PNGs re-encoded through AV1 — half the size at indistinguishable quality, alpha channel preserved, all in your tab. Conversion runs instantly in your browser tab — no upload, no cloud, no per-seat ladder.
Lossless source. Every pixel exact.
Roughly half the file size of the source PNG. Visually indistinguishable in most cases.
Local-first by architecture.
Each PNG becomes an AVIF independently.
PNG is one of the great lossless image formats — but it was designed in 1996, before perceptual video codecs were a thing. AVIF, which inherited everything AV1 learned about predicting pixels, can hit the same visual quality at roughly half the file size. The conversion runs in the browser tab, so neither file ever needs to leave your device.
AVIF lossy at high quality is visually indistinguishable from a lossless PNG. AVIF also has a lossless mode if you need pixel-exact output.
Yes. AVIF supports proper alpha, so transparent PNGs convert cleanly.
PNG uses DEFLATE — a 1990s general-purpose compression algorithm. AVIF uses AV1 — a 2020s perceptual video codec. The codec gap is 20 years.
Modern browsers handle AVIF natively. For older clients, ship a PNG fallback via
Yes — AVIF supports lossless. It's still smaller than PNG. Drop the file into Artboard for explicit control.
