GIF and PNG both live on your device.
No upload, no cloud, no log.
Pull the first frame as a lossless PNG — transparency intact, no compression artifacts, no upload. Conversion runs losslessly in your browser tab — no upload, no cloud, no per-seat ladder.
Palette, transparency index, all parsed in your tab.
Pixel-for-pixel exact. Sharp edges stay sharp.
No upload, no cloud, no log.
Parallel processing. No queue.
GIF transparency and PNG transparency don't actually work the same way under the hood — GIF has a 'one color is fully transparent' flag, PNG has a real 8-bit alpha channel. But for the common case of pulling a sharp, lossless first frame out of a GIF without an upload roundtrip, PNG is the right answer. We do it in the tab.
PNG is lossless and supports transparency. GIFs often have transparent pixels (the GIF format has a 'transparent color' index); PNG preserves that perfectly. JPG flattens it to white.
No. PNG can hold animation via APNG, but standard PNG can't. We export the first frame as a static image.
Often, yes — PNG is lossless. But if your GIF is short or sharp-edged, the PNG can actually be smaller.
Yes. The GIF transparent-color index maps to PNG alpha = 0.
Yes — drop a folder, each becomes a PNG.
