Why it lives in the tab

Picking a color and getting it in every format you might need is one of those operations that should be free, fast, and local — but most online color tools route you through an analytics-heavy SaaS. We do it in the tab. Pick once, get HEX, RGB, HSL, HSB, CMYK, and named CSS, plus a generated palette. Every conversion runs in JavaScript on your machine.

Frequently asked

Which color formats are supported?

HEX, HEX with alpha, RGB, RGBA, HSL, HSLA, HSB, CMYK, and named CSS colors.

How does the eyedropper work?

We use the browser-native EyeDropper API, supported in Chrome, Edge, and recent Safari. It lets you sample any pixel currently visible on screen.

What palette modes are available?

Complementary (180°), analogous (±30°), triadic (120°), tetradic (90°), and monochromatic (lightness ramp).

Can I copy a palette to clipboard?

Yes — one click copies the entire palette as CSS variables, JSON, or a comma-separated list.

Does CMYK conversion need a profile?

We use a standard sRGB → CMYK conversion. For print-accurate work, you'd want a profile-aware tool downstream.

Is the color saved anywhere?

Only in your browser's localStorage if you save it explicitly. Never to a server.
