Soundbend The studio. In your tab.

Soundbend brings FM synth, wavetable, drum rack, sampler, destructive waveform editor, full mixer with FX chain, and Airwindows-class effect ports together in your browser tab, running on Web Audio and AudioWorklet. Real DSP, in WebAssembly: Cytomic SVF, denormal protection, oversampling, true-peak limiter (ITU-R BS.1770-5), null-test goldens. Free for everything that runs on your device; AI is paid in credits.

01
SYNTHS

FM, wavetable, analog subtractive — three flagship synth engines.

FM operator matrix with feedback. Wavetable with spectral morph and 3D WebGL view. Analog subtractive with Cytomic SVF filter. All running in AudioWorklet for sample-accurate timing.

02
DRUMS

Drum rack + sampler

16-pad drum rack with per-pad processing. Multi-zone sampler with destructive wave editor for sample sculpting.

03
MIXER

Full FX chain

Per-track EQ, compressor, reverb, delay, chorus, saturation, widener, gate, true-peak limiter. Aux sends. MIDI effects.

04
PRO DSP

Tier-1 ports

Five Airwindows-class effects: Pressure6, ToTape9, PurestDrive, CreamCoat, NotJustAnotherDither.

How it sounds

The DSP is the difference. Soundbend ships denormal protection across every effect (no CPU spikes when audio fades to silence). Cytomic state-variable filters, the same topology the desktop DAWs use. ADAA waveshapers where ChowDSP would. ITU-R BS.1770-5 true-peak limiting on the master bus. A null-test CI harness that catches DSP regressions before they ship. The synths are sample-accurate via AudioWorklet, not the older MainThread Web Audio nodes that drift on heavy load. The samples lined up against the desktop DAWs sound — with a few honest gaps named on the parity scorecard — like a real DAW.

How it works

  1. Open morph.cool/soundbend in any modern browser. No install.
  2. Pick a synth (FM, wavetable, analog) or load drum rack / sampler.
  3. Connect a MIDI keyboard via Web MIDI, or use the on-screen keyboard.
  4. Patch FX into the mixer chain. Bus to aux for sends.
  5. Record-arm the input, capture audio, edit in Bend, the wave editor, export the mix.

Where the desktop DAWs still win

Mature DAWs have years of plugin ecosystem (VST3, AU), MIDI clip arrangement features, automation lanes, and decades of community tutorials. Soundbend is catching up fast (WAM v2 plugin host already shipped) but if your workflow depends on a specific commercial VST, that VST won't load in a browser. For native synth + drum rack + sampler + mixer + FX chain — the core production loop — Soundbend is browser-native, real-DSP, and twenty-five times cheaper than a Live Standard license.

Frequently asked

Does it really run in a browser?

Yes. Web Audio + AudioWorklet for the synth engines, WebAssembly for heavier DSP, WebGL for visualizations.

Web MIDI?

Yes. Plug in any class-compliant MIDI keyboard.

VST3 / AU plugins?

Native VST3/AU not supported (browsers can't load arbitrary native code). WAM v2 (browser plugin standard) is supported.

What's the latency?

Worklet-based synths run at the browser's audio block size — typically 128 samples (~3ms at 44.1kHz). Comparable to native DAWs on a clean machine.
