AI features (gen-fill, expand, remove) call a Cloudflare Workers AI endpoint with the masked region only; everything else stays on your machine.

Will it open my .psd files?

Why people leave the desktop suite

The desktop suite is the standard — its maker owns the workflow and prices accordingly. The install is six hundred megabytes. The license server pings home. Files stay on your device. The only network call is the AI request, and that carries only the selection — not your full file.

Where the desktop suite still wins

The desktop suite's plugin ecosystem is two decades deep. If your retouching depends on frequency-separation panels or a third-party upscaler plugin, the desktop suite is still the right tool. Artboard's plugin layer is on the marketplace roadmap. Smart objects with embedded raw pipelines are also coming.

Is the AI generative fill any good?

Three variations per request, served by Stable Diffusion 1.5 inpainting. Quality is comparable to the desktop suite's generative fill for most use cases. Selection-aware suggestion chips help with prompts.
