A typing test measures how many words per minute you type and how many of them you got right. Morph's runs in your browser: the words flow as one paragraph, you type over them, a mistake stays red until you fix it, and when the clock runs out you get your net WPM, raw WPM, accuracy, consistency and a curve of your speed second by second. How the numbers work

WPM counts five characters as a word, spaces included, and only characters you typed correctly. That is the standard every serious typing test uses, so your number compares.
Raw WPM counts everything you typed, mistakes and all.
Accuracy is keystrokes that were right over keystrokes you made; a mistake you corrected still cost one.
Consistency is how steady your speed was from second to second — a rhythm scores high, a burst-and-stall low.

Three modes

Time — 15, 30, 60 or 120 seconds of common words. The classic.
Words — 10, 25, 50 or 100 words; the test ends when you finish the last one.
Quote — a full sentence with capitals and punctuation, the way real writing goes.

Word lists exist in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Dutch and Indonesian; the test opens in your language when it has one.

Getting faster

Accuracy first: a 40 WPM run at 98% beats a 60 WPM run at 85% once the corrections are counted. Then rhythm — the consistency number tells you whether you are typing or lurching. Keep your eyes on the words, not the keys. Ten minutes a day moves the number more than an hour on Sunday.

Click the words and start typing — The clock starts on your first key. Type the words as they flow; a space moves to the next word.
Fix mistakes as you go — A wrong letter turns red. Backspace fixes it — a corrected mistake still counts against accuracy, so aim for clean first.
Read the results — When time is up you see WPM, raw, accuracy, consistency, time, and a curve of your speed over the run. A new best is marked.
Go again — Press Tab to restart with fresh words. Your results stay in your browser on this device — nothing is uploaded.

What is a good typing speed?

Around 40 WPM is a typical adult; 60–80 is fast; 100+ is competitive. Accuracy above 95% matters more than the last few words per minute.

How is WPM calculated?

Correctly typed characters divided by five, per minute. Spaces count. Raw WPM counts every character typed, right or wrong.

Are my results saved?

On your device only, in your browser's storage, so you can see your best and your last runs. Nothing is sent to a server.
