The video editor, in detail. Every panel of Flowcut — media library, timeline, properties, transport, color, scopes, export.
A professional non-linear video editor that runs entirely in your browser. Import media, arrange clips on a multi-track timeline, color grade, adjust speed, and export — all without uploading a single file.
Getting Started
- Open Flowcut — click Flowcut in the dock, or go to morph.cool/flashcut.
- Import media — drop files onto the editor, click + Add in the Media Library, or use the drop zone. MP4, WebM, MOV, AVI, and MKV are supported.
- Build your edit — drag clips from the Media Library to the timeline. Trim, cut, reorder, adjust color, or change speed.
- Export — pick a preset (YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, etc.) or choose a custom format, then click the green Export button in the toolbar.
The Flowcut Interface
Flowcut uses a professional NLE layout with five areas arranged in a grid. Everything you need is visible at once — no hidden panels or mode switches.
Toolbar
The toolbar runs across the top of the editor and gives you access to menus, project controls, and export.
- Back button — return to the Morph home screen.
- File menu — import media, create a new project, or save/load project files (.mfx format).
- Edit menu — undo, cut at playhead, delete clip, and access Generative Expand.
- Window menu — toggle Color Scopes, Audio Meters, and other panels.
- Export button — the green button on the right opens the export panel with presets and custom options.
Media Library
The Media Library sits on the left side of the editor. It holds all the files you've imported into your project.
- Import files — click the + Add button or drag files into the drop zone at the bottom of the panel.
- Search — type in the search bar to filter your media by name.
- Category filters — switch between All, Video, Audio, and Image tabs to narrow down your media.
- Drag to timeline — drag any media item from the library directly onto the timeline to add it to your edit.
Preview Window
The preview window is the largest area of the interface. It shows your video in real time as you edit.
- Timecode overlay — the current position is displayed in HH:MM:SS:FF format in the top-left corner.
- Performance stats — FPS counter in the top-right corner shows rendering performance.
Transport Controls
Below the preview, transport controls let you navigate your edit:
- Play / Pause — the center button (or press Space).
- Skip to start / end — jump to the beginning or end of your project.
- Seekbar — drag the slider to scrub through the video.
- Volume — adjust playback volume (displayed as a percentage).
- Fullscreen — expand the preview to fill the screen.
Properties Panel
The Properties panel on the right side shows transform controls for the selected clip. Orange dots next to each property indicate it can be keyframed.
| Property | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Position X | Horizontal position of the clip on the canvas. |
| Position Y | Vertical position of the clip on the canvas. |
| Scale W | Width scaling from 1% to 400%. |
| Scale H | Height scaling from 1% to 400%. |
| Rotation | Clip rotation from 0° to 360°. |
| Opacity | Transparency from 0% (invisible) to 100% (fully visible). |
Timeline
The timeline is where you arrange, trim, and manage your clips. It supports multiple track types with color-coded clips.
Track Types
| Type | Color | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Video | Cyan | Video clips and image sequences. |
| Audio | Green | Audio tracks, music, voiceovers. |
| Text | Magenta | Text overlays and titles. |
Track Controls
- Visibility toggle — click the eye icon to show or hide a track.
- Lock toggle — click the lock icon to prevent accidental edits to a track.
Trimming & Cutting
- Set trim in — move the playhead to where you want the video to start and press I.
- Set trim out — move the playhead to where you want the video to end and press O.
- Cut at playhead — press Cmd+K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows) to split the clip at the current position.
- Delete a clip — select a clip and press Delete or Backspace. If you delete the last clip, the editor reverts to the full trim range.
- Undo — press Cmd+Z (Mac) or Ctrl+Z (Windows) to undo any edit.
Clip Management
- Select a clip — click a clip on the timeline to select it.
- Drag clips — drag media items from the Media Library onto the timeline to add them.
- Reorder clips — when 2 or more clips exist, arrow buttons appear in the top bar. Click the left or right arrow to move the selected clip.
- Seek preview — hover over the timeline to see a thumbnail preview of the frame at that position.
Timeline Bar
The bar above the timeline provides editing aids and zoom controls:
- Magnetic timeline — when enabled, clips automatically snap to each other's edges as you drag. Toggle it with the magnet icon.
- Snap to grid — aligns clips to grid divisions for precise placement.
- Zoom — adjust the timeline zoom level from 20% to 500% using the slider or + / − buttons.
- Playback status — shows whether the project is currently playing.
- Clips linked indicator — shows when video and audio are linked together.
Export Presets
Flowcut includes 7 export presets optimized for popular platforms. Pick a preset and Flowcut handles the resolution, codec, and bitrate for you.
YouTube
1080p H.264 MP4 — optimized for YouTube uploads.
1080×1080 square MP4 — fits Instagram feed posts.
TikTok
1080×1920 vertical MP4 — full-screen TikTok and Reels.
Twitter / X
1280×720 MP4 — within Twitter's upload limits.
GIF
480px wide, 15 fps, two-pass palette optimization for high-quality GIF output.
WebM
VP9 video + Opus audio — smaller file size for web embedding.
Custom
Choose your own resolution, codec, and format. Use stream copy for instant, lossless output when you only need to trim.
Color Grading
Open the color grading panel from the toggle button in the top bar. Five sliders let you adjust the look of your video in real time.
| Slider | What it does |
|---|---|
| Exposure | Brighten or darken the overall image. |
| Contrast | Increase or decrease the difference between light and dark areas. |
| Saturation | Make colors more vivid or more muted. |
| Temperature | Shift colors warmer (orange) or cooler (blue). |
| Tint | Shift colors toward green or magenta. |
- Reset a slider — double-click it to return to the default value.
- Preview vs. export — the preview uses CSS filters for speed. The final export bakes adjustments into the video via FFmpeg, so there may be slight visual differences.
Speed Control
Change playback speed to create slow-motion or time-lapse effects. Six speeds are available:
| Speed | Use case |
|---|---|
| 0.25x | Ultra slow motion — great for analyzing detail. |
| 0.5x | Slow motion — cinematic feel. |
| 1x | Normal playback speed. |
| 1.5x | Slightly faster — good for tutorials. |
| 2x | Double speed — quick overviews. |
| 4x | Time-lapse effect. |
- Speed is applied to both the preview and the final export.
- Audio pitch is preserved using the atempo filter — voices still sound natural.
- Speed resets to 1x when you import a new file.
LUT Color Grading
LUT (Look-Up Table) files apply cinematic color grades to your video in one click. Flowcut supports the industry-standard .cube format.
- Built-in presets — three presets are included: Cinematic (warm shadows, cool highlights), Vintage (desaturated, warm tones), and High Contrast (deep blacks, punchy colors).
- Import your own — click Import in the LUT panel and load any .cube file. LUTs from any desktop editor work.
- Toggle on/off — use the On/Off switch to compare the graded and ungraded look instantly.
- Replace or remove — swap to a different LUT or remove the current one at any time.
Color Scopes & Audio Meters
Professional monitoring tools help you evaluate your video's color and audio levels during editing.
Color Scopes
Open the scopes panel from the toggle button in the top bar. Four modes are available:
| Mode | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Waveform | Luminance (brightness) across the horizontal axis. Helps you check exposure. |
| RGB Parade | Three side-by-side channel displays (Red, Green, Blue). Useful for spotting color casts. |
| Histogram | Per-channel frequency distribution. Shows the spread of tones from shadows to highlights. |
| Vectorscope | Circular hue/saturation display. Center is desaturated, edges are fully saturated. Includes R/G/B/C/M/Y target boxes and a skin tone reference line. |
- Switch between modes using the Wave / Par / Hist / Vec tabs at the top of the scopes panel.
- Scopes update in real time during playback at up to 10 fps.
Audio Meters
Toggle the audio scope from the Window menu to see real-time level meters for left and right channels.
- Green zone (0–65%) — safe audio level.
- Yellow zone (65–85%) — approaching loud. Keep an eye on peaks.
- Red zone (85–100%) — clipping risk. Consider lowering the audio.
- dB markers at 0, -6, -12, and -∞ help you gauge levels.

Known Limitations
- Maximum 3 clips — you can cut a video into up to 3 segments.
- No captions yet — subtitle and caption support is coming in a future update.
- GIF two-pass — the two-pass palette optimization may not work in all browser FFmpeg versions. Flowcut falls back to single-pass automatically.
- Multi-clip GIF — GIF export with multiple clips skips two-pass palette optimization.
- Color grading preview — the in-browser preview uses CSS filters, while export uses FFmpeg. Results may differ slightly.
- Processing speed — everything runs on your device. Longer videos and higher resolutions take more time. Close other tabs to free up memory.
- LUT preview at 4K — the real-time LUT preview is CPU-bound. Performance is smooth at 1080p but may drop at 4K. The final export is unaffected.
- Audio meter approximation — left/right channel separation uses frequency-based splitting, which is an approximation. True stereo metering requires decoded PCM data.
