When something's not working. Downloads, HEIC, video, AI features, browser quirks — the fixes for the common stuff.
Quick fixes for the most common issues in Morph. Everything runs in your browser, so most problems come down to browser settings or file compatibility.
Downloads
My file didn't download
Some browsers block automatic downloads or save files to an unexpected folder. Try these steps:
- Click the Download button on the done screen a second time.
- Check your browser's download bar or Downloads folder — the file may already be there.
- In Chrome, go to Settings → Downloads and make sure "Ask where to save each file" is off (or on, if you prefer to choose).
- Disable any browser extensions that block downloads (ad blockers sometimes interfere).
- Try a different browser — Chrome or Edge work best.
Conversion
Conversion failed
A conversion can fail for a few reasons:
- File too large — very large files (500 MB+) may exceed your browser's memory. Try a smaller file or close other tabs to free memory.
- Unsupported format — Morph supports 60+ input formats, but some rare or proprietary formats aren't covered. Check the supported formats page.
- Browser compatibility — some conversions require features not available in all browsers. Switch to Chrome or Edge for the widest support.
- Corrupted file — if a file was partially downloaded or transferred incorrectly, it may not convert. Try the original file again.
HEIC files won't convert
HEIC is the default photo format on iPhones. Morph converts HEIC to JPEG, PNG, and other formats, but the HEIC decoder needs to download a ~40 MB model the first time you use it.
- Wait for the model to finish loading — you'll see a progress indicator.
- After the first conversion, the model is cached and future conversions are instant.
- If it stalls, refresh the page and try again on a stable internet connection.
- Use Chrome or Edge for the best HEIC support.
Video
Video conversion is slow
Morph's video editor runs FFmpeg entirely in your browser via WebAssembly. This is what keeps your videos private, but it means conversion speed depends on your device.
- The first time you use the video editor, FFmpeg downloads (~30 MB). This is cached for future use.
- Longer videos and higher resolutions take more time. A 1-minute 1080p clip typically converts in 30–90 seconds.
- Close other browser tabs to give Morph more memory and CPU.
- GIF export uses a two-pass palette optimization for better quality — this doubles the processing time but produces much better results.
Video editor won't load
The video editor requires SharedArrayBuffer, which needs specific browser security headers. If the editor won't load:
- Use Chrome or Edge — they have the best support for this feature.
- Firefox works but may show a warning. Safari has limited support.
- Make sure you're accessing Morph via morph.cool (not a cached or offline version).
AI Features
AI features are slow or timing out
AI features like Generative Fill, Object Remove, and Describe Image send the selected region to Morph's servers for processing. Speed depends on server load.
- Most AI operations complete in 5–15 seconds.
- If you see "Taking longer than expected," the server is busy — your request is still processing.
- Requests time out after 30 seconds. If this happens, try again — server load fluctuates.
- Select Subject runs entirely on your device using a local AI model. It may take up to 10 seconds on desktop or 15 seconds on mobile.
AI results don't look right
AI image generation is probabilistic — results vary each time. A few tips:
- Generative Fill generates 3 variations. If none look right, click Regenerate for 3 new options.
- Write specific prompts. "A red brick wall" works better than "background."
- Make sure your selection covers the area you want to change — too small and the AI lacks context.
- For Object Remove, paint over the entire object you want to remove, including shadows.
General
How do I find all available tools?
Scroll down from the home page to explore all tools and categories. You can also click Browse in the bottom dock to smooth-scroll to the tools section. Use Cmd+K (or Ctrl+K) to search for a specific tool by name.
What is XP and how do I earn it?
XP (experience points) tracks your usage of Morph. Every file conversion you complete while signed in earns XP automatically. Build streaks by converting on consecutive days, and ring the bell after a conversion for a +25% XP bonus. As you accumulate XP, you level up through 10 ranks — from Newborn to MORPHEUS.
See the full XP System & Levels guide for details on levels, badges, and the leaderboard.
What does the bell button do?
After each conversion, a bell appears on the done screen. Ringing it gives you a +25% XP bonus on top of the base XP you earned for that conversion. The bell can only be rung once per conversion — tapping it again won't double-count. It's completely optional and there's no penalty for skipping it.
How do I delete my account?
You can delete your account and all associated data from the Settings screen. This removes your profile, conversion history, XP, leaderboard ranking, badges, and any linked OAuth accounts. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. See the Privacy Policy for the full scope of what gets deleted.
Is my data private?
Yes. All file processing happens entirely in your browser — your files are never uploaded to a server. Morph uses WebAssembly and JavaScript to convert files, edit images, and process video locally on your device. The only data sent to Morph's servers is when you use AI features (Generative Fill, Object Remove, Describe Image), and even then, only the selected region is transmitted. See the Privacy Policy for full details.
What does Morph OTT do?
Morph OTT is a three-band multiband compressor inside Soundbend that runs both upward and downward compression at the same time on every band. It pulls quiet detail up, holds loud peaks down, and the result is the dense, glued, energized sound producers reach for on drum busses, synth stacks, and masters. The Depth knob is a dry/wet morph — press it for instant glue without thinking about thirty parameters. See the full Morph OTT guide for the eight presets and use cases.
Is Morph PEQ linear-phase like the mastering plugins?
Yes. Morph PEQ has a linear-phase mode for mastering and parallel-bus work — it applies the EQ curve with zero phase shift, which prevents comb filtering when summed against parallel copies of the signal. The cost is processing latency of around 30–60 ms; Soundbend’s mixer auto-compensates so everything stays in sync, but you’ll feel the latency in live monitoring. Use linear-phase for masters and parallel busses; leave it off for tracking. See the full Morph PEQ guide.
What browsers are supported?
Morph works on the latest two versions of all major browsers:
- Chrome and Edge — best experience, all features work.
- Firefox — most features work, video editing may show a warning.
- Safari — conversions and most tools work, video editing has limited support.
- Mobile — Chrome, Safari, and Edge on mobile all work. Some tools are optimized for larger screens.
For the best experience, use Chrome or Edge on desktop. See the Browser Compatibility section below for more details.
Browser Compatibility
Recommended browsers
Chrome and Edge (latest versions) offer the best experience. All features work, including video editing, HEIC conversion, and AI tools.
Firefox
Most features work. Video editing may show a compatibility warning. HEIC conversion works but may be slower.
Safari
File conversion and most tools work well. Video editing has limited support due to SharedArrayBuffer restrictions. HEIC files convert natively on macOS/iOS.
Mobile browsers
Morph works on mobile Chrome, Safari, and Edge. Some tools (video editor, Artboard) are optimized for larger screens. Use the Browse Files button to select files on mobile instead of drag-and-drop.
Still stuck?
Most issues are solved by switching to Chrome and refreshing the page. If you're still stuck, try clearing your browser cache or opening Morph in an incognito window.
